Waters in Witchcraft
A recent (and currently ongoing) discussion in the discord group has inspired me to put together a small list of different waters used in soellwork and witchcraft. All of these are relatively simple to acquire, and quite useful. Ideally, this information will also inspire you to experiment with other waters!
Moon water: Moon water is water that has been charged or infused with the energy of the moon. This water is typically collected during a full moon and is believed to be imbued with the feminine and intuitive energy of the moon. Theoretically, water collected or charged during other moon phases might take on different qualities depending on the phase it is gathered under.
Blessed water: Blessed water is water that has been ritually blessed or consecrated for spiritual purposes. This water is often used for purification, blessing, and protection rituals. Anyone can make blessed water.
Holy water: Holy water is water that has been blessed by a religious authority, such as a priest or shaman. This water is believed to have protective and cleansing properties and is often used in banishing and warding off negative energies.
Spring water: Spring water is water that has naturally bubbled up from underground springs. This water is often considered to be pure and imbued with the healing and life-giving properties of the earth.
Ocean water: Ocean water is water that has been collected from the sea. This water is believed to be powerful and cleansing, as well as connected to the energy of the tides and the vast expanse of the ocean.
Rain water: Rain water is water that has been collected during a rainstorm. This water is considered to be charged with the energy of the storm and is often used for cleansing, purifying, and fertility rituals.
War water: War water is water that has been 'contaminated' by rust, usually by filling a bucket of iron nails with water and allowing the water to turn orange. It is used to curse enemies and cause strife and conflict.
Florida water: Florida water is not water from the sunshine state, but rather water that has been infused with various herbal essences, primarily flowers, to make a cleansing and consecrating blend.
Did I miss any? What waters do you use?
