The Five Principles of Reiki

The five principles of Reiki, known as the "Gokai" in Japanese, are foundational to the practice and are often recited as affirmations. These principles are based on the teachings of Mikao Usui, the founder of the Reiki system. 1. Just for today, I will not be angry - This principle encourages practitioners to cultivate a sense of inner peace and release any anger or hostility from their hearts. By letting go of anger, individuals can create a more harmonious and tranquil environment within themselves and in their interactions with others.


2. Just for today, I will not worry - This principle emphasizes the importance of living in the present moment and letting go of unnecessary worry or anxiety. By focusing on the present, practitioners can cultivate a sense of trust in the unfolding of life and reduce the mental burden of excessive worrying.


3. Just for today, I will be grateful - This principle encourages gratitude and appreciation for all the blessings and experiences in our lives, no matter how big or small. By practicing gratitude, individuals can shift their focus to the positive aspects of life, fostering a sense of abundance and contentment.


4. Just for today, I will do my work honestly - This principle emphasizes the importance of integrity and ethical conduct in all aspects of life. By maintaining honesty and integrity in their actions, practitioners can cultivate a sense of personal integrity and honor their commitments to themselves and others.


5. Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing - This principle promotes compassion and empathy towards all beings. By practicing kindness, individuals can foster a sense of interconnectedness and treat all living beings with love and respect.


These principles serve as guiding philosophies for Reiki practitioners, helping them to cultivate a mindset of positivity, compassion, and personal growth. By incorporating these principles into their daily lives, practitioners can promote harmony, balance, and well-being within themselves and the world around them.
