Mantra Diksha Revisited

Recently, I was having a talk with someone and the nature of mantra Diksha came up. So after explaining how it works, I decided to share this explanation with all of you. So here we go:

"So, here's the truth of mantra and mantra Diksha: there are three varieties of mantras, in my experience. Open mantras can be chanted by anyone, no matter what. For instance, Om Namah Shivaya or Om Mani Padme Hum don't really need Diksha to activate them. They will simply work. Then, there are mantras that won't really work well for you, but that won't harm you either. These would be mantras like the Great Fifteen Syllable Mantra, or the mantras of Dorje Shugden. Then, there are secret mantras that not only will not work for you without Diksha, but that will actively bring about bad things, usually because you simply aren't ready for them. So for instance, there is a mantra I know that is used in a secret destruction ritual from the Aghori. Without empowerment, chanting the mantra stirs up very wrathful spirits and energies, and if they don't recognize you as their master through empowerment, they will turn on you as easily as they will your enemies. Most mantras you see on the Internet will be in the first or second category, though lately many of the third have made their way into the public through various means.

In the second category (and even the first in some ways), Diksha isn't strictly necessary, but if you want to get the most out of it, you can. The first category of mantras, Diksha will give you the added benefit of the lineage that gives the Diksha and their collected chanting. In the second category, Diksha activates the mantra so that it is not just you sending a signal into the ether, but also receiving one back."

So I hope that makes sense and clarifies things a bit. The bottom line is, Diksha isn't always necessary, but it can be a game changer with your practices. If this is something you are interested in, then send me a message and let's get you set up!
